Frequently asked questions

What is Sawari?

Sawari is a carpooling app for everyday journeys, built in Bengaluru by Terragreen. Drivers offer empty seats on trips they are already making, and riders going the same way request a seat. Sawari is currently in beta.

Who operates Sawari?

Sawari is operated by Terragreen Innovations LLP and/or Terragreen Tech Innovations Private Limited (LLPIN ACR-8279), based in Bommanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

Who is Sawari for?

Sawari is for people who make regular trips — especially daily commutes — and would rather share them. Riders get a seat on a journey that is already going their way; drivers offer the empty seats on trips they are making anyway. Colleagues travelling to the same workplace are a natural fit.

How does Sawari work?

A driver offers a trip they are already making, with a route, a time and the number of seats they can share. Riders travelling the same way see that journey and request a seat. The driver decides which requests to accept, and both can follow the trip in the app.

How do I find a ride on Sawari?

Set your pickup point and destination. Sawari shows journeys going your way, with the driver, the vehicle and the pickup time, before you confirm. You send a request to the driver, who chooses whether to accept it.

How do I offer a ride on Sawari?

Offer the trip you are already making: set where you start, where you are going and how many seats you can share. Riders going your way send requests, and you decide which to accept. Sawari may ask for licence, vehicle and insurance information before you can offer journeys.

Do drivers have to accept every request?

No. Drivers choose which ride requests to accept. Sawari does not guarantee that a particular driver or rider will accept a request.

How does Sawari verify users?

Where applicable, Sawari may verify user, employee and vehicle information — for example a corporate email address or employee verification for corporate features, and licence, vehicle and insurance information for drivers. Verification lowers risk, but no platform can guarantee how another person will behave.

How does Sawari handle safety?

Depending on the service and the permissions you grant, Sawari provides trip information before you travel, live trip features and trip sharing, reporting of unsafe behaviour, support, and SOS functionality where available. If there is immediate danger, contact emergency services first — in India, dial 112.

How do shared contributions work?

Where applicable, Sawari may facilitate a shared contribution associated with a shared journey; how it is calculated and collected can vary by service. Sawari is not for commercial transportation, and users must follow the transport, licensing, tax and insurance rules that apply where they travel.

What are Carpool Points?

Where Carpool Points are offered, they are platform usage credits. They are not currency, cryptocurrency, a bank balance or an investment, and are not intended to be withdrawn as cash unless Sawari expressly permits it. They may have expiry dates, limits or other conditions.

Is Sawari a taxi or ride-hailing service?

No. On ride-hailing services you book a vehicle and driver for your own trip. On Sawari, drivers share seats on journeys they are already making, and they choose who to take along.

Is Sawari available in my city?

Sawari is in beta. It is built in Bengaluru, India, and has not yet announced public service areas. People can join the beta at sawaarii.in to hear when it opens near them.

Can I download the Sawari app?

Sawari is in beta. Join the beta at sawaarii.in and the Sawari team will contact you as beta places open. Official links will only ever be published on sawaarii.in.

Is Sawari related to other apps with similar names?

Sawari at sawaarii.in is operated by Terragreen and built in Bengaluru, India. Other apps and services with similar names (such as Sawari, Savaari or Sawaar) are separate products.

Can my company use Sawari for employee carpooling?

Companies, mobility partners and organisations can talk to Sawari about employee carpooling. Corporate features can include corporate email and employee verification, and any reporting to a company should use aggregated or appropriately limited information — Sawari should not expose an employee’s precise home location to their employer or colleagues.

How do I join the Sawari beta?

Fill in the beta form on sawaarii.in with your name, mobile number, email and whether you want to ride, offer rides or both. It is free, and your details are used only to run the beta.

How can I delete my Sawari data?
